Relax. Rebalance. Restore.

Zen Therapeutic Singing Bowls

These Himalayan singing bowls look similar to traditional hand hammered bowls, but they are specifically engineered to provide a strong, soothing vibration and sound. The sizes and vibrational characteristics are matched to appropriate body zones. A combination of these powerful vibrations, yet gentle and rhythmic sounds induce an immediate relaxed state.

VST sessions are customized for you. We can add a combination of Energy Healing (Reiki), therapeutic grade essential oils, or other sound healing instruments to enhance your experience.

What happens to the body during a Vibrational Sound Therapy Session

Vibrational Sound Therapy (VST) has profound effects on the body and the mind. The VST method is above all a method of relaxation, and most people will reach this state of relaxation quickly, even during their first session. During a VST session the body will go through noticeable changes as it responds to deeper and deeper states of rest. Relaxation is not only a physical state but also a state of consciousness, and VST has very strong effects on alertness and perception. Relaxation during a VST session brings on the same kind of brain states as yoga, tai chi, and meditation.

Most clients will start to relax as soon as the session begins. Their muscles will lose tension, and they may even start to slip into the alpha brain wave pattern within the first minutes. The alpha wave pattern is associated with daydreaming and pre-sleep. At this point the client’s breathing and heart rate will start to slow down, and the body will begin to absorb the waves of vibration into its tissues. The slowing of breathing and lack of muscle tension are both signs that the metabolism is slowing. Insulin levels will rise, and cortisol levels will fall. As the heart rate slows, blood pressure falls and arteries expand giving rise to a feeling of warmth. This relaxed state allows the body to repair itself instead of responding to outside concerns. The immune system is at its best when we are relaxed.

VST is so gentle and relaxing that almost all people will fall asleep at some point during the session. The theta brain wave state is associated with meditation, sleep, and deep relaxation. The delta brain state is a deeper form of sleep and is also associated with hypnosis and ritual. During normal sleep, people will oscillate between both of these states. The brain wave state of clients undergoing a sound massage will change naturally and in reaction to the modality as positions are changed and different bowls are introduced. Small tremors and shakes are common as people enter and exit the theta and delta brain rhythms.

Those who undergo a state of deep relaxation often report a feeling of mental freshness that they carry with them after the session is over. Relaxation and meditative states of mind have also been shown to increase the threshold for emotional response, meaning they can help us control our emotional responses to outside influences. Like other kinds of meditation, sound therapy can help us be more internally aware while being more present in the moment and more connected with our surroundings.

Vibrational Sound Therapy combines powerful vibration and sound to induce an immediate relaxed state. By placing therapeutic singing bowls directly on the body, the sound and vibration can be used to re-tune us to health.

When there is a deep relaxation through soothing, resonant sound, the body is affected on a cellular level, opening up the flow of energy to move us back towards alignment with health and well being.

Sound and vibration can help us shift our energy frequency from lower to higher. It can help realign the frequencies of the body, bringing us back to a state of balance.

Yes there are. Contraindications are listed below. However this does not prevent you from participating in either an individual or a group session where the bowls are not placed directly on your body so you can still receive some of the benefits of the sounds that the bowls make which still help to activate our parasympathetic nervous systems.

You are required to complete and sign the intake form and keep your practitioner informed of any changes in your health and/or medical treatments you are receiving.  If you have questions please ask your primary care doctor before receiving a session.

Yes! We may be able to come to you. You’d want to make sure you have an environment where you can be undisturbed the entire session.

There would be an added travel fee determined by distance.

Currently I have to borrow a portable massage table for events. Availability may be limited until I have my own.

Using sound and vibration, VST activates the parasympathetic nervous system to reduce stress in the body. VST is gentle. It can have profound effects on the body and the mind, with clients quickly reaching a deep state of relaxation. Some clients experience such deep relaxation that they may fall asleep at some point during the session.

The client remains fully clothed and may opt to have a light sheet covering them for extra comfort. The singing bowl is doing most of the physical work so contact is kept to a minimum. This provides a non-invasive treatment atmosphere.

Therapeutic Himalayan singing bowls are placed around and directly on the body. The bowls are struck with a mallet to produce a vibration and resonant sound that will travel through the cells of your body.

60 or 90 minutes. You can also customize your session once you have had a session to include the types of modalities, and instruments that resonate with you and your journey.

Wear comfortable clothes without any buttons, snaps, or metal on them. Your feet may get cold during the session so wearing a pair of socks is recommended.

There is a tray for you to place your items. Please remove your watch and any jewelry that may buzz against the bowl (rings, bracelets, necklaces). There usually isn’t need to remove earrings. For rings that are stuck on or body piercings like the navel, a little pad can be used between the bowl and body.

Absolutely! We have physical gift cards available in the studio or we can create a digital one. If you’d like help creating a gift bundle let us know. True You Yoga Studio also carries a variety of teas and brewing vessels, aromatherapy bracelets, bath bombs, and more.

Please arrive 10 minutes (15 minutes if it’s your first time) before your appointment.

Try to avoid caffeine and hydrate (don’t chug fluids) before your session as you would a normal massage.

Please do not smoke or vape before your session.

I’ve set up a table at several events. I offer free little samples so people can learn more about this healing modality. Some events I will set up a table and offer mini demos that last 15-20 minutes for a small fee.

If you’re interested in us joining you for an event contact us!
